Uncommon, the Dutch roaster that aims to showcase the unique story behind every coffee

Uncommon, based in Amsterdam, is a specialty coffee roaster based on the fundamental principle that every coffee is different and unique, because every coffee has its own uncommon story

Coffee has been for a commodity so long, in a sense, something “common” that used to taste more or like the same regardless of origins, varietal, processing and so on. But thanks to the growth of the specialty coffee scene, the idea of the singularity of each individual coffee is spreading more and more, and this idea is what lies behind Uncommon Coffee, an Amsterdam based specialty coffee roaster built with the clear goal of become more mindful, more impactful and more in synch with nature, by taking customers on this journey with them.

Uncommon Coffee

Basically, Uncommon is founded on the fundamental principle that every coffee is different and unique, because every coffee has its own uncommon story: its own unique microclimate, variety, altitude, and processing methods are all closely linked with the final characteristics of each individual coffee.

But there’s more. The many (usually untold) stories behind coffee are as rich and diverse as the terrain from which coffee cherries grow: every farmer and every producer, but also every single piece of land, or every specific coffee varietal has something unique to share.

Uncommon Coffee

Working closely with producers and all players along the coffee supply chain, the Uncommon team has the privilege to share these untold stories with anyone who is interested in hearing them, and they do so with a clear purpose in mind. “If everyone knew the work, skill and knowledge that goes into creating our daily cup,” they ask themselves, “would we look differently at the price we pay for it, or think twice about where we get our daily coffee from?”

Uncommon Coffee

That’s why they continue to share these uncommon stories, hoping to create more awareness and bridge the gap between farmers, producers, baristas and the final consumers; inspiring more mindfulness towards the way we consume, towards our earth and towards each other.
